2025-2026 ACADEMIC YEAR MEAL SCHOLARSHIP GUIDE

During the 2025-2026 Academic Year, students with low income levels studying at our University will be provided with one free meal per day at our University cafeteria. Applications for the meal scholarship will be accepted between October 6, 2025, and October 17, 2025.

Important Notes:

Students who wish to benefit from the meal scholarship should apply at https://burs.balikesir.edu.tr. When applying, they should follow these steps:

They can apply for the meal scholarship by answering the meal scholarship questions in the Scholarship Module Scholarship Application tab.

After clicking the Scholarship Application button, questions about the student will be answered. If there is a File Select label in the selected item, the required documents must be uploaded.

After ensuring that all information is correct, click the “Submit My Application” button to complete your application. No changes can be made after the application is submitted.

Before applying, it is important to prepare the following documents in a computer environment (in PDF format) to ensure a faster and smoother application process.

Required Documents:

* Certified copy of the population registry obtained from e-government (Family information must be included! The status of the parents must be visible in the population registry copy. Otherwise, your application will be deemed invalid.) *Martyrdom/Veteran Certificate

*National Athlete Certificate

*Document showing Credit/Scholarship Status

*If you have a sibling enrolled in higher education (excluding open education), a document proving they are an active student (must be obtained from e-Government and verifiable. * If you have siblings enrolled in primary or secondary education, a document proving their active student status. (This document must be obtained from e-okul or e-devlet and must be verifiable. * Document showing your employment status and social security coverage. You can obtain this document by logging into your account on the e-government website and using the link below. ( https://www.turkiye.gov.tr/sosyal-guvenlik-kayit-belgesi-sorgulama )

* A document showing your family's income status. You can check your parents' SGK registration and print it out via their e-Government accounts at (https://www.turkiye.gov.tr/sosyal-guvenlik-kayit-belgesi-sorgulama). Pay stub for employees, copy of income tax return for freelancers, document showing the last month's salary for retirees.

* If you are disabled, a document showing your disability status.

* If you live in provinces affected by the Kahramanmaraş-centered disaster that occurred on February 6, 2023, a document obtained from e-government showing the damage status of your residence.

Students who can directly benefit from the meal scholarship

The students listed below can directly benefit from the meal scholarship upon request, without being subject to announcement and evaluation:

a) Students who can prove that they are national athletes and do not receive any scholarship from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

b) Students with a disability of 40% or more, provided that they can prove this with a medical report.

c) Students who can prove that their mother, father, or sibling is a martyr or veteran.

ç) Students who have won first place in international/national science, culture, arts, and sports competitions on behalf of the university.

Evaluation of Meal Grant Applications

Applications are evaluated based on the student's family information, residence status, income status, academic achievement, number of siblings enrolled in school, status as a relative of a martyr or veteran, disability status, achievements in competitions participated in on behalf of the University, other grants and loans received, etc.

The scholarship will be terminated for students who do not benefit from the meal scholarship within the first month from the start date of the scholarship, who use less than fifty percent of the meal scholarship in a semester, and who misuse the meal scholarship (e.g., allowing others to benefit from it).

Form and duration of the meal scholarship

Students who are eligible for the meal scholarship can benefit from it until the end of the academic calendar.

The meal scholarship is in the form of a free lunch/dinner provided to students once a day.

The meal scholarship ends when the student's enrollment ends.

The form and duration of the meal scholarship may be changed by the University Board of Directors.
